5speed box in a 4Speed Clio

The other half has a 1.2 RL and its only a four speed box. Does anyone know what i will need to get it to a 5 Speed. Do i just need a box or will i need allot more. ie the shifter part that comes up into the cockpit. Curently you cant select 5th gear position will this need to be changed. does anyone know. colin

mines a 4speed as well, and really want it to 5 gears. any ideas of cost etc would be very helpfull...

ahhh 4 gears! Takes me back!

Waste of time and money! Looked into doing it on my mk4 1.3 Escort which is about the cheapest car there is to work on. Just wasnt worth it.

If you do a lot of motorway driving i see your point but if not then i really wouldnt bother. Escort still did 105 in 4th

A mate did that on his polo, only needed the 5 speed box and that was it

get a Clio haynes manual and there are any specifis differences on in a 4 speed gear box and a 5 speed gear box from a 1.2 (or 14.RT)

as for the work if its a straight swap, u might as well do the job yourself? gear box is light you can use a hoist and the engine use a jack (as long as u have a decent one?)

just get a 1.4 engine with 5 speeds and plonk it in i did mine today. complete car cost £65 + this weekend to take out and put in

Yea like timo said its a weekend job. the gearbox u can literally lift in manually (ok u might need a good hoist to help) the engine will come straight out. stick in your 1.4 engine and gear box and ur sorted. 5 speed and an extra 20/30bhp
