6.5" components in mk1 clio?

  Alfa 147 GTA
Anyone managed to do this? Got any pics if you have and how much work was needed?

Is there a big difference in terms of SQ between 5.25" and 6.5" components?

Cheers

big diff in sq and loudness as the larger speaker has a much wider dynamic range in most applications not to mention is more powerfull due to having a larger voice coil its not much work fitting them either matey;)

would prefer to fit the bigger speakers, could you give me any more info on what work needs to be done to fit them in? :)

you just screw them straight into the door panel ideally use a bit of dynamat you may have trouble fitting depending on the mounting depth of the speaker as far as i know autoleads dont make baseplates for the mk1 to take 6.5" but you could easily make a set for another car fit or make your own baffle;)

cheers guys,

pics would be really good. ideally i'm after a factory look, so if the baffle fits behind the door card with no modification to the door card then alls good ;)

Fitted MB Quart QM 218.61 in my Valver. Many places said it couldn't be done but found a place who did. The depth is fine but you will have to cut out where they fit which means a bit or metal removal (making 5.25 to 6.5 diameter hole) Unless you space out with speaker less flush so less in teh door.

As to SQ, not sure if it makes a great difference and you are probably limited to the volume in the door anyway.

Perhaps too much hassle and 5.25 would be a straight fit and easier to put back to standard if you want to keep ICE when selling car.
