800£ quote to build 3 mdf sub boxes!!!

now this is just silly!!

does anyone else know somonwhere that can make custom ones...im not after anything special....in herts area

or anyone thats handy with wood n saws etc?

If you were local, I would give it a go. MDF is dirt cheap. You need to decide what sort of volume you want, which depends on your speakers.

Then do you want ported/unported? There are loads of configurations for buiding the boxes and how the speakers are placed.

i know what im after as i got a pic of my bros that he did..and ive got the same speakers but newer versions

as for the volume...i know it cant be wide cos it has to fit..but depth...wel enough so i can get the amps in....same amps as in pic pretty much

with spl looks dont matter, its what it does on the mic, bit like all out 1/4 mile cars, dont matter what it looks like as long as it does the 1/4 fast.

was that just for mdf sub boxes or a boot build?

full a custom build thats the price you would expect to pay just for seperate boxes bit steem prom looking 80 for each custom box imo

Where did you get that quote?

Someone on Talkaudio will be able to do it for you without a doubt, Especially if you can take care of upolstering them.

What subs are they housing? What sorta volume are we talking? Ported or Sealed?

well it depends if you want a s**t box made out of thin mdf that will sound poo but fit

or u want decent wood, ported, fiberglass sealed. etc etc

and yes crazy clio course i mead 140s but no one bothers with the 100 as every one gets at least 100 unless there is something very wrong

TBH Julie, thats not exactly high end equipment so I very much doubt having a specifically made box is going to make too much difference,

ID pop to halfords and just buy some pre made sealed boxes and use them IF i was you.

use birch if you want to use decent wood, but is expensive i could make you a box but your to far away

tbh it sounds like u just want a tidy looking boot not special, nothing that requires a custom build, like the guy sail its not top end audio equipment and you arnt planning on entering any events, halfraulds is prob a good bet, or have a bast at making something yourself,

mdf is the cheap one of plywood, is more expensive but also good

TBH they just look like boxes from halfords mounted different ways, then some very messy wiring, you could do much better than that for cheaper.

This cost me £65 and 6 hours to do this one: £27 of that was the leather!

Idoubt you will fit the subs 3 in a row in a clio either!

there is enough room to fit 3....just...think there was room for all 3 which an extra inch each side
or somthing like that

my box took me about a week to do, all volume calculated the port specific, sealed completely, fiberglassed

prob cost about £20 in wood £10 in glue £5 screws £10 fiberglass

but then wiring and exuipment on top
