8800 or wait for 8950GX2

Does anyone know when the 8950GX2 is likely to surface? I am currently thinking of upgrading my 7950GX2. Perhaps to an 8800GTX, but as I'm working away from home still, I am using my laptops and not playing games. Hence perhaps there's no rush to decide on a card until Crysis hits the ground. Thoughts? I am considering going Uber 1920 style 24"+ so a GX2 will not be wasted

I realise my AM2 64 may be a weak link so perhaps I'll go the full sunday roast and upgrade my mobo and CPU to Intel at the same time.

I would wait, i have a 320mb 8800 GTS. Running games at the moment is fine, full settings on everything so far (except Company of Heroes) however i would imagine when the actually full dx10 games arrive i will be struggling to run them and the card i paid £200 for will be a bargain basement.

I only got it because even the cheapest DX10 cards blows the dx9 cards out of the water. Also when the DX10 games arrive the prices will be a lot cheaper

i have a 24" tft running 1920x1200, but my card isn't capable of running games at that resolution. i keep thinking what to get, but every time i keep delaying it cos new cards keep popping up on the horizon. might wait for the amd cards to arrive and see what happens.

Wait, wait, wait...... what's the rush?

If you're after playing games on the PC, then at least wait until they get most of the issues with Vista sorted out.

I'm still happy as a pig-in-muck to continue using my DX9 dual 7900GTXs and either XP32 or XP64. There's just no rush (or need) to spunk £350 on a new gfx card. Certainly giving the fact that you're running a 7950 anyway.

If I was that eager to spend money, I'd add a bit and go and buy a PS3. :)

^^ Normally I would agree Dazza, but my GX2 is performing very badly under Vista. However, because I don't really have the time to play games just now, I guess it will do until Crysis comes out. Crysis may be the basis for TheBeast3 ;)
