A bit confused

I cleaned the 182 the other day except when finished washing it 3 times with turtle wax and wash it didn't seem as shinny as previous washes - the car has never needed a proper wax. I'm trying to find out if this is maybe because the car is losing some of it's "newness" :S

I've also tried Halfords wash and wax equilivant and got even better results than the turtle stuff. Does anyone recommend a certain type?

have a look in the detailing forum mate.

Although all the different products in there still confuses me!!

As time go's on the shine will dimish. Will need polish to restore the shine, and a wax/sealant to seal in the shine and protect the paint.

Thanks guys I'll check them out. My car was like glass just the other week too!

Plus, I need to touch up some chips on the bonnet :dapprove:

You brought the high maintence colour, but its the one that looks the best when clean!

Can you get the Supaguard/Diomondbrite done even if the cars not brand new? I was going to have it when I first got my car, but then when i had my bumper sprayed I had to cancel. I never re-booked because I thought the car had to be brand new?

r-jay's absolutely right - my 182 is now seven months old, and when new it had the "Supaguard" applied, and it was literally like looking at glass when clean.

I've noticed since the onset of Winter the overall 'shine' has faded a little, however, some decent polish, and sealing wax, will restore its beauty!

Black Gold is the hardest to keep clean, but (IMHO) looks the best when 'buffed up'!

Sounds like Black-Gold TBH; the 'glitter' effect comes from the "Gold" bits! :D

Black Gold, looks gold in the sun, plus there will be a paint code on the door sticker. 267 for Black gold. 182's only came in Black Gold, 172's Pearl Black.

Also whats the score with your front tyres the knobles are still on the side walls......! Has it every seen a day of abuse..?

Seen some abuse just not very many miles on the clock! No track days though - best yet is a few runs up Prescott Hill.

Winter is not the time for scrubbing you sidewall nobbles off lol. I've been trying and have nearly ended up in a hedge. lol.

Good job the Clio always gives you a warning and a second chance!!
