And that's pretty much what has happened since I joined back in May. Obviously there are some bits not worth mentioning and inevitably, as it is now well past midnight, a fair few mistakes and omissions also. This is how the car stands now:

PLANS

Total cost so far in the region of £1400, including services and stuff, but excluding the cost of the car and insurance. It's probably not going to change much now, except for a new drivers wing and a bit of paint repair at the same time.

New car come June possibly, but more likely in 2010.

THANKS

Well it's gonna sound cheesy, but hell it's nearly Christmas. I'd just like to say thanks to everyone, from the people who have sold me parts, especially Chris (W17GLE), Chris (Whiteley) and Ben for the extra time and miles they put in;

Also the people known only as reps, who have put a lot of time and effort in to organising and attending the meets. Especially el Christopher and the 'other' reps, including (but not excusively), Andy Schweppy, Donny Donny, Mandy Pink Lady and Drunknmunky Nick;

Last but not least everyone who has helped me with stuff on CS or who I have met at meets, from Hayley and Mossy etc at the dent removal to Marky and SteBurns at karting. Thanks to CS I've spent a small fortune this year.

Anywayyss, I figured this would be cheaper than buying presents :rolleyes:. Merry Christmas :approve:.

Next year is gonna be hella busy, so the Clio is probably going to take a backseat, which incidentally is the same place my bro has just put a dobbing great cigarette burn in my car. Good times.

  Turbos.
Looks good. When can you put the wheels/springs on?

I'd just colour code a few bits and leave it, unless you can get a cheap PH2 rear bumper.

Good write up Ian, Btw i aint a rep anymore ;) thought that counts though!! If i was you, i would jst put the springs on

Cheers all, was going to write more for it, but it was already late enough lol.

Hopefully next June, if I can find an insurer who won't charge the earth for the privelege. I was thinking of paying a bit extra to put them on for the Isle of Man trip just before the insurance runs out, but I don't think I'll be going on that anymore.

I have enquired into color coding at the same time as having the new drivers wing sprayed and they want £300 for all the standard bits to be done, or £150 for just the wing and one bit of paint correction. We'll see, maybe after Christmas.

Ha no I suppose you're not. You were though. Give it a few months and they'll be begging for you back. :)

Oh and don't tempt me with the springs, think I'll need spacers if I do anyway so I might as well wait for now.

good write up. Get the wheels and springs on. The wheels are atleast standard Renault parts and your car would be listed on an insurance database to have alloys on, you could always say you bought it like that and because they are renault parts thought they were standard.

Yeah looking back that's perhaps what I should've done. However, I rang them up asking if it would be a problem, they quoted me some silly price so I said I wouldn't be changing anything. They said fine, but they'll keep a note of it. So, I imagine it would be the first thing they would check unfortunately.

Having said that, I'm not even sure how valid my insurance is anyway. Everything I've done has been cosmetic, but they could easily point something out if they wanted to.

Bear in mind insurance inspectors don't have an encyclopaedic knowledge of all cars. The wheels will have a Renault badge on them, so the chance of them noticing are minuscule!

Only thing that would stop me is, without springs, the car will look like its on stilts anyway. You will also need spacers to fit them.

Lol it's more than I've done in the past 6 months and I made a thread about it. :rasp: Black and Flame Red Ph-quick are spot on anyway.

Aye fair enough, couldn't be a rep myself!

Nice write-up Ian!

Why thankya!

Yeah wouldn't be fitting them without springs, would look naff. Would be pushing my luck putting bright red Eibach springs on, almost guaranteed to end up turtle-esque, wheels up in the air in a ditch. Then again, would still look naff with springs with the thinner track even if it were possible, would definitely need spacers.

If it happens it happens, if it doesn't I've probably got a better car so I won't be too fussed. Win win. :)

Lol cheers, you're lucky I wrote it half asleep, would've ended up at least 4 times longer if I really thought about it! Kind of like this in fact!

Good read Ian, cars come on a lot.

When you get a more mod friendly insurance company i'm sure it will be even better.

Hopefully see you at the meet on sunday.

Cheers again everyone..

It will be good if I can get it sat on springs, spacers and either the 16s, or 15" Oz f1s; but as I've not done any of it I'm not too bothered at the moment if that makes sense. My bro and/or his mates will only wreck it further, rear seats already need replacing.. lucky the car isn't a burnt shell tbh.

The CS sticker won't be going on til everything's finished anyway, so little chance of getting laughed at in public, sat like a rollerskate. Keep it out of the way at meets. :)

Looking back it doesn't look all that different, the best mods for me are giving it a good clean and the 172 interior, but I suppose it's not really the full package yet, so to speak. Chris's black ph1 is the perfect example of what a good clean can do to a car though!

I'll see what I can do for this weekend Brett, would be good to go, but time is precious at the mo. Should say hey though really, eh!
