I didn't know there was a "usual", but i guessed correctly.

Could be could be! Fair trek for me tho, so there's a greater chance you took your 80k mile black one got it resprayed and toddled off to brands!

The V punished the driver for a little smallish error.

If you look closely he was still on the brakes as he turned-in, unloaded the rear and around he went.

Don't brake and turn ladies ;)

my bad!But still doesnt mean hes a crap driver

Well it does mean he doesn't know how to put a RWD, rear engined car into tight bend properly ;)
So I'm guessing he's not a very good driver, or not had a RWD, Rear engined car long enough to know the difference in handling from a FWD car?

  Turbos.
Looks like he was just turning too early whilst on the brakes. Can get it away in most modern cars, even in relatively powered front engined RWDs. At Snett you get people braking all the way around the esses. In a Vee you would just die.

If you're going to be picky it is the driver's fault, but that doesn't escape the fact the Vee is a poorly designed and set up car. I don't see the point in taking them on track, personally.

I though the 'challenge' of driving a Vee would be half the fun, but ultimatley found it frustrating and in the end, boring!

LOL @ the V6'ers trying to defend their reputation... personally, I'd put it down to a poor factory setup.

Ask ClarkieV6 why he brings his 5 turbo to the airfield now.... perhaps his V6 simply isn't competitive enough to sprint against the 172/182's? He's a very experienced hill-climber.

Regardless, it was a fun day (that's what counts).

Great vid (and can't wait to see the new 'face-cam from the Airfield Mark), at the end of the day everyone has to start somewhere, and there is nowhere safer than on a trackday.

So what if he is/was a 'crap' driver, to be fair that's probably why he is there learning the limits of his car! Better than doing that on a roundabout.

Truth be told, this video was from a year or two ago. I leant Oms the tape to use when his ran out and found this when running through what came back from him on it.

The V6 was probably one of the Renault fleet cars they took to the RS trackdays to let everyone get a taste of driving other models in the range. So the driver would have been far from confident.

Good on Oms though. Very smooth, very nice steering...if only you'd left it in 4th for paddock and used all the track on the exit...
