A Mk3 review

  850 T5. mmmm Turbo!
Got a 1.4 16v clio whilst bup is being cut and shut at renault.

took it over to liverpool this weekend i got there feeling pretty uneasy.

my first impressions were that someone at renault took the interior out and gave a single part to everyone in the factory and asked them to make it better, the result is the massive plastic dash board with parts in that feel like they were made by kids. the stero is the same but has bubbles on he buttons, the blowers are bigger and silver.... they look totally out of place with the car. also i cant see the speedo when i have the steering wheel in any position other than fully up.

firstly the lack of power compared to a 172 is abit of a shock for a start, you have to just follow traffic.
The seats are flat and i slide out of them round corners, i also find my legs hurting because of the seating position, and my knee has to rest on the door handle which has a nice bruise already.

it feels like im driving as bus, its 10 times worse than my old 1.4 and feels no where near as fast, also it only managed 37mpg on the m62, im sure bup could manage that.

the key fob is also s**t as it unlocks the car when is in my pocket, never had that with a mk2.

clio mk3 gets a big thumbs down from me.

lol glowing review there. agree about the comfort and seating position after a brief test drive in a mk3

I can honestly say that the mk3 I bought my missus is a world ahead of my 172 in terms of comfort (there's a helluva lot more room than in my 172!) and build.

Performance, handling and steering feel however..... Make me feel sick.... they're that bad lol.

But my missus likes it because it's cute. Horses for courses as they say.

i love my dci mk3 its pokey comfy an dare i say it fun to drive  :D

my only gripe is the glovebox its poorly designed an the inside finsh is alful

The 1.4 I tested wallowed around corners and felt gutless to me - and I drive a 1.2 16v! The interior is nasty and the exterior worse.

The key fob well thats part of the toys you cannot complain realy its a part of the design some lower spec stuff don't come with it if it I like it its juts got to get used to.

As for the lack of power what do you expect its a heavier car with a less efficient engine and you were probely driving it like the cup is.

197: Slow
Its as quick as a 182 proven.

Whats with the f**king lights too, when you go left and right more lights come on at the side, people think your flashing them, what a stupid idea.

1.6 1.4 1.2 are gutless, too much weight to lug around

hows the 138 bud?

they look great imo

was hoping to get a mk3 for my next car, defo have to have a good test drive
I drive it more than the 182 TBH , 10800miles since march in it, its good on juice and it loves motorways, gearbox makes this car, pulls like a train in 6th, wish i'd gone for cruise control though as its so quiet you dont know what speed your doing until you look at the speedo, it will cruise at silly speeds at least in the 182 you know your doing a ton. in the 138 its doing 3950 rpm at an indicated ton and very quiet with it.
