A noisy Exhaust?

Hi ALL!

Curios to find out if anyone can help with my problem. Currently own a 172 CS which i bought with a full system exhaust from K-tec. The noise is great on clio runs and the odd short drive but any long distances and its a killer the noise is unberable! Any one know of any soloutions which could reduce the noise without changing the exhaust?

I herd about compacting the exhaust with extra wire wool but not sure if this is possible?

Which system is it? Does it have a centre silencer?

If doesn't have a centre silencer you could have one welded in to it.

Not really m8. My Ktec isnt loud, just drones between 60-75mph so if im on a long trip I drive at 59ish or 80mph

could be a decat system, so get a cat put in which should make it quieter

SuperSports don't have a centre silencer, well that's the case for the stealth systems anyway.

its a janspeed recessed exhaust. i remember the writing on it when i fitted it. it has a cat, and pretty sure it has a centre box.....

its NOT loud by anymeans.

come for a ride in mine, yours will seem silent afterwards.

ask psj the one it replaced was alot louder lol.


on the subject of wire wool in the exhaust, it will blow out when you boot it onto the motorway, so in essence pointless.

Thanks guys for the comments, i was curios just to see if there was anything that could be done to reduce noise. No plans of changing the exhaust as its a good system.

i just fitted a de cat to my Ktec reccesed and that dont alf drone but sounds cool getiing up to speed

Not exactly the same issue but it's the same exhaust...with the sport cat on it too!

Sometimes when you pull away from a junction or go round a corner on uneven roads the wheels sound as if they loose grip for about half a second, and you actualy hear this from the exhaust.
Is that normal? lol

yes. if your wheels lose grip, the actual engine load changes=>gas flow changes=>exhaust note changes

Roflcopter-every KTax/Janetspeed system ive heard has that same irritating drone at motorway speeds. Such a quality product! :clown:

My opinion would be to ditch it & buy a btb or Yoz/JP (or for the benefit of Gaz, std) system
