A quicky about oil!!

Just a quicky, Im getting an oil change today but how much oil does the valver take??

Will a 4L bottle do it or do i need more than that??

And whats the best oil for a valver?

Think you may need a little more than that. not much tho.

Think its about 4.5 litres but depends on which sum you have fitted.

Ive always used magnatex, coz i can get it quite cheap. Starting to think there may be a reason for that tho???

i always used Magnatex in my previous engine. I think ill continue to you it too. Not heard any bad stuff about it - keeps the tappets quite too.

He meant it depends on what SUMP you have fitted fella!!

my late N reg valver takes 5.5 litres of the bloody stuff cause it has the larger willy sump fitted to it as in most of the later model!

yep. mine too. bought 5L thinking it would be plenty and it didnt quite fill it.

im thinking of getting halfords 5w/40 synthetic as its buy 1 get another 1/2 price, and there only £25 each. thinking it may be a bit thin at high temps tho??

I had my Oil changed a few days ago. Local Garage I use all the time. IN his book said 5,2 litres

Also before I ran 0w Mobil 1 and that was really good

I have some 5w in there now and prefered the Mobil one! Go for Full synthetic though!

Is in a valver never had probs with Oil temp at all either!

Cheers guys. Been to get some oil and filter, Opted for the fully synthetic Mobil 1. Lets see what its like.

Didnt realise it was so expensive!!!!

Yeah mine takes somewhere about 5-5.5 litres.

I use Magnetec 10w/40.

Oil temp gets a bit hot when continually booting it, but my oil cooler of santa will sort that out!

do none of you Magnatec users find it makes your car very tappety.........theres lots of people on here that stay clear of it because once they tried it, it made there engine noisy, myself included, havent touched a Castrol oil since i used that

i use Silkolene now if i can get it, about to order a drum of it to keep me stocked up...

nah mate, at hot temps its a 40 rated oil, same as your usual 10W-40, so it wont be too thin no, if you give it a lot of thrashing you might be better with a 50 rated oil......

5.3l(some take5.5)of 10/40 semi synthetic(use fully synthetic if you dont mind paying a bit more).When the williams came to our dealer all the time because they were new the recommended oil at the time was semi synthetic but fully synthetic is better.
