That laptop will be uber s**t, will struggle just to go on the interent, i'd much rather buy a second hand one for that price.

I'd say look on ebay. Loads for £150ish and all far far better than that one.

Can you get these little notebooks with a 9 pin serial port? I need one for mapping as my old laptop is pants... No new laptops seem to have these old serial ports anymore :(

I guess it depends on the application, but the USB->Serial adapters work well for what I do (terminal connectivity over serial). I connect to Cisco devices, Procurve devices, embedded boxes all fine.

Serial is being phased out quickly.. especially as space is so limited on laptop boards nowadays.

no its basically a small laptop, it can word process, surf the net, play games etc like you can on a normal laptop but most last alot longer off charge and are obviously smaller making it easy to cart around :)

Most don't have optical drives and have small amounts of storage. If you are using it for surfing then that's not an issue.

i wouldnt ever buy anything from PC World. Saying that, they might have some good deals as its January.

I would go and have a look and learn at PC World, then have a look on ebuyer, novatech etc for similar or the same models.

Why wouldnt you buy anything from then?

everything is overpriced, donkeys that work there.... blah blah...

just hate the place lol. i always buy bits from the internet and build my own PCs. just built one for £410, had a look at a PC World flyer, and they were offering a lower spec PC for over £1500!

(its a high spec gaming PC, all the parts came from ebuyer)

i know laptops and notebooks are different, as u cant build ur own, but personally i cant fault Dell for doing a good job when u buy straight from them

lol, yeh, i recken they should get paid more, there is nothing worse than a salesperson that doesnt know what they are talking about (and i dont mean u McBunny lol - no offence) maybe if they paid more, they would get better salespersons.

i wouldnt mind doing it as a job, but like f**k would i work there!

which store did you visit? I'll forward your feedback onto them in a sec, as long as you make it constructive. I expect them to share the same opinion of you as me though.

Which model were they advertising for £1500 in the flyer?

I'm also interested to hear what the 'Blah Blah...' is?

was about 6 months ago, and the flyer was at a mates house. would have been the store in Swindon. think the PC advertised was £1675 or something like that, was the highest spec 'gaming' PC they had.

the blah blah was me not wanting to rant about it and offend anyone lol. i just have had bad experiences with the staff when i have been in there (again, the Swindon store).

I know the manager well in Swindon.

aaaaaannyway, back on topic. If I was buying a netbook it would have to be a Samsung NC10. Slightly over budget though Laura.
