AAAAAARRRGHHHH!! MP3 Player help, please please!

I've been playing with a Sony 20GB Music player.

It does not play MP3 - what they want you to do is convert it to their own format... so they can take-over the world!

Are there any genuine MP3 players out there... say around 20GB, which actually play MP3.... I'm sick of having to use rediculous software, to convert file formats!

The newish ones allow mp3 playback :S

I have a Creative Zen Xtra (40gb) no issues at all with it, currently holds 2856 mp3's

Are you using bundled software to transfer the files by chance?

Yes... what's a better way of doing it?

My computer recognises it as a removable disk - but I'm not sure where to drop the files into.

Use SonicStage instead of Connect player, thats what I do. Tends to be quicker and more stable. It does support mp3's, it even now supports WMA's if you download the firmware upgrade. I think there is an option somewhere in connect player to stop it converting tracks to ATRAC when you import files, can't remember where on Connect player though.

Sony are the only ones who want you to use a-trac. Creative is the safest bet, in my opinion. Check out the Creative Zen Vision:M
