With me watching a mix of films and sport in SD and HD I felt Plasma was the best way forwards.

Managed to get this, with a 3 year warranty, for £604 so I'm pretty chuffed about that.

I decided on Plasma for the same reasons Griff. For watching TV both SD and HD Plasma still looks a lot better than LCD. And it's far from shabby for gaming.

Is that one that casts the coloured light behind it?

That's a bargain, I paid £950 for my 42" Panasonic in March. It's down to £850 now.

I'll definitely not be using it with the PC and I haven't got a 360/PS3 either so I slowly started to move away from LCD. After getting Sky HD I've been watching loads of the HD films (Via Anytime) and naturally football at every opportunity so hopefully the better contrast ratio's and response times will make it a justified decision.

Managed to get a 10% discount code which made it even more tempting.

Edit - No it's not an Ambilight (sp!?) set.
