Abs faults

I’ve got a Christmas tree dashboard at the min due to some abs fault. It’s got a set of 4 new sensors which now means the lights aren’t on when the car starts but after a minute or so they all come on. Braking is random to say the least until the lights come on.

Excuse the poor quality pic but these are the codes from the rs tuner which aren’t really much use. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start?

What are the rings like? And what gap do you have because you can get w**k readings if the rings are corroded and have started to get smaller teeth

The back are spankers so def couldn’t be them. The fronts are probably original so that’s not a bad shout. For the sake of £10 for a pair of new rings it wouldn’t do any harm to swap them and see if that sorts it. Cheers 👍

Another vote for rings. Mine were completely split giving the exact same symptoms.

ABS would also randomly fire during slow speed braking which was fun.

Swapped one today. Still no change. It was a bit shitty looking though. I’ll swap the other tomorrow but it actually looks quite new

Did you clear the codes and go for a drive?

Yeah. Had none stored or showing before I set off. As soon as I did it was the same crack, drove about half a mile then the Christmas tree fired back up. I don’t care the abs doesn’t work but these lights do my head in!

the codes are f**king helpful like, no indication as to which wheel the problem is coming from

Swap your front right ABS sensor

5045 is OSF ABS sensor
5044 is NSF ABS sensor

This makes me sad. That’s the new hub. I’ve got another sensor but it’s in the old hub so zero chance of getting that out. Cheers for the point in the right direction though 👍

Do you mean that the car doesnt even lock up? Takes longer to stop than usual?

It does absolutely f**k all! It brakes fine under gentle pressure but that’s all it gives. As soon as the lights come on it’s spot on just no ABS

I have a similar fault without any lights on warnings. It doesnt matter how hard I push the pedal the brake efficiency is awful, pedal goes all the way down to the floor but has resistance, unlike if there were to be air in the system which Ive had before, this is nothing like it. The wheels wont lock up even in gravel.

It has new calipers all around, fit a 197mc, bled copious amounts of fluid using clip, sent off the pump to a 'specialist' and sent to a garage to have a look. Nothing..

Im 100% the pump has gone and will swap another over this week.

Clean the connector on that sensor. Tbf I have no idea if it was fucked but the rest of the hub was scabbier than a ran over dog

Aye I’ll give it a clean and see what happens. I’ve still got the part numbers down so ordering another one is no drama. Sure I’ve said it before but that hub was in 1000x better condition than the original. It’s definitely been stored in the sea at some point 😂.
