ABS Warning lamp

ABS and the ESP warning lights popped on last night on the way into work, along with the SERV light. Get to work turn the engine off, start it again, lights dont stay on, back to normal.

Is this just an electrical gremlin, or should I be scared..........

Well it has gone off now so I wouldnt worry about it... If it comes up again and again then go see renault as there might be a lose connection somewhere etc.....

Mine came on this morning too along with the SerV light which seems to be playing up again and the letters OIL flash when u turn on the battery?

I would at least report it to Renault. When I was test driving a cup a month or so back I asked them if theyd sorted the airbag prob and would the MD write me a letter to that effect ( I said Id deliver it back via their front window if I got f**ked about like some of the people whove had the bag go off for no reason), he said hed heard of a mod to rectify it so not a problem.

Ive heard of several bags going off (with out a crash) and renault wont cover it, insurance job!!!

visceral, my other halfs Laguna had this - If its the same problem she had then it will progressively get worse, i.e. flash on more often. If it does and you also experience some grinding on the pedal when you brake - like a miniture earthquake! then unfortunately its the ABS cutting in even though you are not braking hard.

It will be the ABS sensor on one of the front wheels reading the volts wrong - this makes the car think it is braking heavily when it isnt and hence the ABS cutting in. Job isnt too difficult - Renault just get under the car and plug in a machine which tells them if the sensor is f****d or not. If it is then its about £140 to replace fitted. Job Done.

Hopefully for your sake the light wont come on anymore...THE BOZ

if the ABS light is on then according to the manual, there is a fault with the ABS (duh!) and that your ABS system has been disabled until it is fixed.

So if youre ABS light is on be warned that you will not have ABS assistance during lock-ups.

hey if my abs dont work - i might just chuck out the climate control get some fabric seats, ditch the handy de-mist button........can u see where i am going with this?

and buy some cup stickers lol.
