AC removal question....

Ok if the aircon is not used, will it still eat into the power of the car? I know removing it saves 7 bhp but is that only when turned on?

No it doesn't use anything for all intents and purposes when off. I could hardly tell the difference in the 172 anyway tbh and I can't at all in the megane.

Just leave the AC off.

Removing the hardware would be a pain to save 20(?)kg! If you making a stripped track ****, get a cup.

Even in a track car I think aircon has its uses. Sweating your arse off while burning round a track because you wanted to gain a few bhp is stupid IMO and takes some of the enjoyment away.
