Acceleration issue.... Help Needed....

  Clio Sport 172
I have just started getting a grinding noise through when i depress the clutch and when i pull away in 1st gear it seems very hard to accelerate away cleanly.. I have seen that it could possibly be from the downpipe hitting the subframe? Have you heard of thus? and if so what repairs/costs were involved? :S

You mean when you nail it in first gear. It's the engine trying to jump off of it's mounts.

To fix it there's a pikey fix where you pull the engine forward or you could just replace the mounts and get a powerflex bush for the lower gearbox mount.

I wouldn't describe it as a grinding noise at all.... It's a very clear knocking. I'd be suprised if it was the mounts.

In terms of what issue it is though, I can't be of much help I'm afraid.

I have taken it into the garage and they said its the clutch bearing that has gone... common fault? But they said as its a three part clutch it would have to all be replaced.... £670? :(
