hi, i have heard people talking about removing the acoustic valve, i was just wondering if anyone could tell me what this is, what it does or how to go on about removing it?
I was told that it is on there to quiten to engine noise down as in europe we have restrictions on how noisy it can be. Not sure whether removing it is a simple job but i dont think it would create any problem.
Yes mate, its to quieten the intake roar when booting it. Its basically a diaphragm operated butterfly that closes as the vacuum increases in the plenium under load...youll see the vac pipe leading from the plenium to the nearside wing. To remove it, jack it up, take the nearside wheel off and inner arch. You will see it rite there next to the horn. all you have to do is remove the whole assembly..you wont get any warning lights or anything dont worry. Just tie the wire back and blank the vac pipe at the inlet manifold end.
