Did mine the other day, took about an hour, if I was anywhere near I would. You not reckon you could do it yourself with a guide? Easy as unscrewing a few bolts/screws, If I can manage....:p

Any reason why you're removing it?

i'v heard you get a little more grunt in fourth and fifth and as im aware of the only reason its there for is to quieten the air filter for eu laws if im correct, may be wrong tho lol

It's true. Also, I heard if you stick your tongue out and out your finger in your ear when you change from 3rd to 4th you gain an extra 10 hp.

Nope, you're wrong there because when i did this last time i actually got flames from the exhaust and gained around 12,4 hp

seriously,
i've read that it also helps the engine warm up better, when removing you'll find it even more terrible a cold ride.
For the rest i'd think it will gain you a bit yes

sorry next time i post a ad for help i'll remember to put sarcastic people need not apply

Honest opinion. Very easy job to do (theres guides dotted around on the website). I removed the acoustic valve and took off the cold air feed going to the box (stuck a panel filter in at the same time). Im sure there is a little extra grunt init especially at the high revs and its a little louder too. Ignore the sarky idiots on here you get them everywhere

when cold , my Clio runs pretty horrible. When the valve is'nt there you'll be scooping up even more cold air and that's what i meant with the terrible cold ride, it may be worst ..

could be wrong, this is what i've read

surely it just runs worse when the engine is cold and not the air going into it? the colder the air the better i would have thought...

You'd be better off listening to the sarcy idiots than the clueless idiots who tell you to take a piece of your car for no reason, because they read some other idiot say it was the best thing to do.

I took mine off 3 years ago, for s***s and giggles. All that occured was it got louder and lost torque low down. No extra power.

Either way it's easy enough to do. Find out for yourself. Just didn't want you to be disappointed when you didn't discover the extra grunt in 4th or 5th... at which point the valve would be open anyway if you're booting it....

Exactly ^^^ i tested mine by unplugging it before I went to the extreme of removing it completely. I disconnected it from the airbox etc and found that it ran shite when cold! Contrary to popular belief the car is mapped with the AV in place so removal will lose you torque.

leave it on there...

better to try the phase 1 airbox with larger airfeeds.
This will loose you the valve anyway.
Besides the engine running shitty when cold, you'll maybe loose torque down below which is'nt what you want is it ?

there's a thread "more air means more power" , maybe something for you

lol what is it with peoples temper calm down your live longer!! What you said was sarcastic and not very helpful to the original query. All i said was I removed mine it was a bit louder and seemed gruntier top end and i personally didnt notice any adverse effects. Leave it on you like but i guess its down to personal preference

I just thought that the topic starter would like my personal opinion rather than a stupid comment.

Toyed with the idea of takign mine off but realised I would get little from it and I don't really want more noise as the car is loud enough as it is!

I'll leave mine then as it misses and hesistates for the first 40 seconds of each cold start.
