Actual 182 performance figures?

Hi

Will be buying a 182 cup in the next couple of weeks, fingers crossed.

But whilst i was looking, i noticed that parkers says that 0-60 is around 6.7, where as on autotrader its saying 7.1 Not much difference, but it would be good to know what was right!

Anyone got the figures?

Doesn't really matter, you'll never get near them if you like your car.

Because at the moment i have a 1.6 Corsa "sport" and it is wayy to impractical and too slow etc etc.

Just looking for something comfy, fast and with everything in, air con, climate, xenons etc etc.

I MAY Take it on a track day, but im not too sure about that!

7.1 is the official Renault quoted figure. Evo managed 6.5 with their datron (or whatever it is) timing gear.

You won't get those with a cup.

Your after a normal 182 with cup packs

id say in answer to ya actual question until the 182 cup haters came along is probably 6.5 to 60mph and 16 to 100mph. 140mph is easily achieved , just based from different magazines plus my own experience.

Well if you get on power 1st you can get past a ep3 type r so thats fast enough for the roads

You'll need a new gearbox by the time you achieve 6.5. Trust me, if you think you're getting near to it with a good traffic light launch - you're not. Closer to 7.5.

0-60 stats are pointless, and 0-100 stats are affected by them so are also fairly meaningless. Power delivery from 2nd & 3rd onwards is what matters outside of the pub.

depends what ya class as abuse really some cars need a hammering where i find the clio does very good starts with a little wheel spin plus a sweet gear change into second.

Yes, which will get you around 7 at best. Believe me, you'll need to beat the s**t out of your clutch and box to get 6.5. That is all.

Even if you did get 6.5 (which is possible), what have you gained? Unless it's a drag car, these numbers mean s**t. In RL you'll find mapped diesels keeping up.

EDIT: Think of it this way. For every 100ms it takes you to do something, that's another 0.1s lost. Lose 200ms off the fastest clutch toasting launch possible, and 200ms off the fastest box smashing change imaginable, and you're already down by 0.4s. Factor in that many cars need a second gear change, and it starts to mean very little against RL driving conditions. Don't get me wrong, the Clios are quick little sheds. I'm just saying the numbers mean very little, and tell you nothing about how a car delivers its power away from a drag strip.

If you don't believe me, hook up some timing gear. You'll be surprised. 7.5 would probably be what you'd get by driving like you do now. You will get 6.5, but you'll be worried about your clutch & box by the time you do.

Also some figures quote 0-62, and some 0-60.

Anyway, as the lovely RM says, it really doesn't matter.

Roy's right, 2nd gear onwards is where it really matters.

Once they're spinning over 5K rpm they pull well. Below that they don't feel very quick or torquey. I've been told mine pulls well low down compared to others too, albeit probably not much difference, but it still doesn't feel very torquey.

suppose aslong as im beating the car next to me im happy, standing starts help the clios chances unless against 4wd then they will be doing twice as much damage.

haha i bet roy, traffic lights a megane 250cup pulls alongside, no petrol head could resist that.

I drive an RS. Every hero has a go. I let them drive off. In fact only yesterday I had some tool in a VAG diesel baiting me and tailgating, and racing off begging me to persue. I let him go when I could probably have detroyed it. You may not believe that, but when you're nudging 40, your attitude will change. Let's not get into that though. Everyone is different. That's also why old f**ks like me pay £400 to insure a group 19 car :D

This, we collected my brothers Mk1 RS yesterday, and jesus christ. Every little chav trys to push you in to a race. We had a 306 over take us on X-hatchings at a juction and he nearly Tboned a car at a junction.

But the other side is the car got some serious attention when we were going through grantham, with a couple of people pointing, then in nottingham we had a guy in a clio taking picture of it.

Ha, thanks guys. Suppose it doesnt matter too much. As said, as long as i can have some fun with a few cars i will be happy at last!

Fair play fella. Fun is what they are all about. Just remember to keep Mr. Sensible on your right shoulder. Street racing is for gimps. I bit of solo fun on a well sighted b-road is what the Clio is all about. That and EPIC fun on track :D

Cheers Roy.

Im definatly not a muppet when it comes to driving, in fact, i do drive like a wimp alot haha!

Im definatly going to look into my first track day as well this year, which should be fun!
