Addition speakers for a TV

I have a Samsung LCD TV and looking to add some speakers to it to boost the "crap" sound it has.

Anyone recommend some which I can plug straight in the back and not through a DVD player?

Cheers all

Will need an amp to get any decent sound from it, I run my Samsung through the hifi when watching movies etc

Bump coz i want to know this too as I have just bought a Sony Bravia HDTV.

I know the best option is to get an amp and speaker package but I have some powered JBL speakers which I use with my iMac.

Is it best to plug these or the ones mentioned above straight into the headphone-out on the TV?

For two channel system using the one I linked to above you would use the red and white audio out as shown in bottom right on the above Samsung and this goes direct into the Aego's Sub

Use the optical out much better than Phono tbh if you dont want to get a sub and all the rest of it just get one of the kits that have the amp built into a dvd player :)
