adjusting hand brake after fitting new rear calipers

I'm going to fit new rear calipers to the Cup tomorrow

Somebody told me that once i've fitted them, i have to pump the brake pedal a couple of times to get the pistons fully out before i fit the hand brake cable (and then adjust it ) is this true?

Presuming you wound the pistons fully inward - brake a few times then pull the handbrake up on the clicker (not with the button held in) a few times and you should be right.
