Adsl connection.... are there limitations??

My son is signing up shortly to ADSL and I'm sure I read somewhere that USB modems cannot cope well enough with speeds up to 8Mb.

Is this right? or does he need a router??

A router would be infinitly better, yes.

I've heard USB modems just max about 5/6Mb I think? (So, if you only sync at say, 5Mb, I *think* they would be fine).

A router is so much better, though.. really..
