advice before i see dealer plz

  GW Clio 200

Walk in and say I would like to part x my current 1.2 to a 172, what sort of deal are you willing to do for me..and then go on from there.

they have already told me i will lose loads of money on it. i paid a bigger deposit so in theory im up on the payments. is it possible to exhance my car on hp for a used one on the court?

providind that you have a normal hp agreement (not a contract hire), it should be very easy for the dealer to arrange for the settlement figure from you current car, and put that on to your new arrangement. If it is not normal hp, then be careful incase there are any penalties for settling early. otherwise good luck, pxd my Puma for a new 182 2 weeks ago and its great. :D

PS work at a dealer, so feel free to ask any questions

yes its normal hp with rfs group. i cant go through another year driving a 1.2 16v, as nice and economical as it is, it will always be a 1.2 16v! so if there is 6k outstanding on my car and they value it a 6k or under i suppose ( 1.2 16v 2002 black dynamique on 18000k) then i still have to produce a deposit. so if i was to wait untill the 3 years are up i could just do a straight swap and start the agrement fresh again with a new car??

The fact that it is hp is good and it gives you a few more options. It will depend on how the dealer works their deals out. if you owe more than the px is worth, you should still be able to roll it into the next deal. Extra deposit would be the better option as this will see you clear and prevent more serious problems later if the car was either stolen or totaled. either way, gap insurance would be worthwhile. just be careful on the rate they offer you, should be low at the minute.

dont do it, they will rape you with the value of your current car, wait another year until you have positive equity on your car, I thought about this with mine about 5 months ago, I also have a 1.2 same age as yours but the dealership valued my car at the same amount as what i owed them convienently, considering I p\ex my old ford escort with them for £2700 thats a huge loss on it.

If you trade in your car and the finance remaining is the same as the value of the car then youll have nothing and youll have to start again. 2 years of payments for no car, bit pointless, you could have rented a better car with insurance for cheaper !!

the other option, although is a little more severe is to look under the terms of the agreenment. you should see that after a certain period you will be able to hand the car back to the finance company without any penalties or charges regardless of how much is outstanding at that time. This should be dome with caution as it will leave you with out a car, but may get you out of a hole.

yeah it only another year. will i be able to just swap it over next year then? ive heard something about a clio turbo in production?? is this true. i would be tempted if so.

Clio turbo is the new shape Clio engine (the one sharing the Micra platform) late 2005/ 2006 I think its due.

I thought id convinced you to leave it a bit a while back or is that someone else I made a big post explaining what the options are.

no that was me matey, just dreaming as usual, do i, dont i, do i, dont i ??? u know what its like, everyone wishes they had faster motors! i just gotta face the facts and wait a year.

If the new shape isnt being released until 2005 then the RS version wont be available until at least 2006 id say !! And the poor kid is stuck with a car that waits 10 mins before responding to the go go pedal bashing, he needs a faster car NOW :p !!

In all seriousness people these days are so impatient and waste LOTS of money doing things like this, its what makes big companies rich. They have all the money you gave them and a newish car that theyll sell for a rediculous price !! Stay with the 1.2 !! 12 months is nout mate and be gratefull you have a car !!

Well least yopu can same some money and spend it modding the 172 or whatever you get for some more HP.

Youve got quite a few bits now on your car It would seem a waste to sell the car after youve just personalised it .
