Advice on buying 172

Hi, im new and thinking of buying a 172, only thing is i dont want to pay too much for it.

Its a 172 completely standard, 53 plate, 33k miles, fsh full tax/mot.

Its from a well known garage so get the warranty and all that.

But is it worth £5300? Im very tempted, going for a test drive tonight so just want your opinions.

Hello and welcome nowt wrong with a test drive c what u think and take it from there make sure the history is spot on with services and that.

Probs worth about £4500.

You can pick up a decent 2004 182 for about £5200 private.

Sounds pricey to me, like the other poster said about £4500 is the going rate. Has it had it's cambelt done as at this age it would be overdue by about a year by my reckoning?

steep is that, cambelt is a must, i resort to taking my tools with me now LOL

was thinking it is a little steep, i would pay £5000 for it i think being as it is at a renault dealership and has low mileage as you always pay more. Id imagine it has the belt done but ill be sure to ask later on.

I paid £3300 for a 54k miler with belts done, I wouldn't pay more than 4k for a 172 nowadays personally

THats stupid money TBH-

I bet it hasnt had the belts done either-

on older cars like a 172 the added value of 33k miles as opposed to one with say 50k is almost pointless as the components are still 6/7 years old-

My advice would be find a similar one in age, around 50k with the belts done & spend between 3.5 & 4k-

Quite badly overpriced - my 172 from a dealer on a 51 plate with 32k was 3700, including a cambelt change, I think that car should be priced no more than 4500.
