Advice on changing Gearbox...

Engine mount, the one under the battery. Just read that I am at risk of my gear box falling off so am now panicking!! I was going to wait until I could afford the upgrade pack from K-Tech but think I'll have to do them one at a time starting with this one for the time being. If I disconnect the battery, which I assume you have to do, what's the procedure, I've heard of people having immobiliser problems afterwards? What do you have to do next, simply support the engine and undo the bolts? Any help would be very much appreciated, don't really want my engine to fall out!

" they should do i had the exact same problem with mine at 12k miles on the cup under warenty same simptoms as yours, it was the mounts under the battery on the left, the engine/gearbox was sliding around, better to get it sorted or your Gb will fall out eventually.. dont worry if its under warenty. since then mine has been ok."

Posted by Meggerman in topic regarding a Cup service in Clio Discussion. My car is banging like a barn door and would rather not have anything fall off!! If you mean the battery question, if I disconnect the battery to remove it, will I fluck up the immobiliser?? Have never changed the mounts in a 172 (or any other car come to think of it!!). Have done the dog-bone but it's not fixed it.

Thanks, Mike!

so you need a new gearbox mount

put a trolley jack under the gear box and remove old mount (remove battery) replace it, job done
