Advice Please

  Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo LE
To be honest its just the model that my friend was after so I said I would lend her a hand. Would you not advise on going for a cup?

All i know is that looks sweet and if you can knock him down to 5k then youv got yourself a good deal :) (aslong as it drives nicely etc).

Listen out for any knocking of suspension, check cambelt has been done and generally check over car. Also if standard exhaust look for rust spots near tailpipes as this is quite common

If its a girl I wouldnt advise getting a cup MAYBE she meant one with cup packs-

Girls will nearly always want the toys-

Cup = No Zenons, poverty seats,Manual Air conditioning, pants steering wheel- - Slightly quicker-

NON Cup= Zenons, alacantra seats, Climate Control & a slightly better wheel-

The cup packs consist of
Cup Spoiler, Cup splitter & Cup suspension & anthricite wheels-

so the 182 with Cup packs is usually the favoured car-

The car in the pic looks ok- pricewise is about right as long as the belts are done- stamps should be on page 18 & 19 of the service book- if not its circa £500-

tell her to get not to get a cup -

Thanks for the replies guys, the belts need to be done and the guy is doing them before we go and see it.

Thanks for the info steve, she has her heart set on a Cup and isnt fussed about the extra bits and bobs.

Any other things I should check for? What are the common issues with these cars? If it was a Fiat Coupe I was looking at the list would be endless :D :D

Make sure they've got the correct Renault locking tools to do the belts.

If not, avoid like the plague.

Yeah. If possible, make sure they're a RS specialist, as the belts are notorious for problems.

If not, try and knock £4-500 off the price and take it to one of the specialists on here, imo.

Dont buy the car unless you get the belts done- If he says hes doing them its BS-

Think about when you come to sell it- & someone asks about the belts- your answer- previous owner did it himself...

I wouldnt.......---- Knock £400 & take it to somewhere thats local specialist wise- they are in the traders sections on here-

Aparantly he can get the belts done at his garage (aux and cam) for a few hundred quid. I thought that was a bit cheap... let me find out who the garage is and get back to you.

Well what I would say if you do go down that road you ideally need to see receipt of the following-

FULL Aux belt kit ( not just the belt) FULL Cambelt kit & poss water pump if required-
Thats around ~ £250/275 all in IIRC- before labour etc-
