Need some help please guys, heres the lo down;
My 6 month old 182 is with Andy GDI at the moment and luckily he has noticed that the pulley for the auxillary belt has cracked (plastic). Now its quite obvious that this would be due to part failure as the chances of a stone or something similar damaging it are slim. The pulley itself is un-obtainable as a single part, you have to purchase the entire tensioning assembly at a cost of £150 and its not available immediately.
Now the situation is im in Bristol and the garage i purchased my car from is here and the car is currently being worked on near cambridge at GDI. Ideally i would leave the car with Andy a few days extra so that he can order the part in and replace it but i dont really want to pay for a job that is covered under warranty so i suggested to my local Renault dealership that i would pay for a new part and then show them the defect one in hope for a refund but according to them they need to see the part in situ on the car, i then suggested that photographic evidence may be obtainable but he was having none of it and wanted me to bring the car to them.
Obviously im not too keen on driving the 180 odd miles from cambs to bristol with a pulley that is cracked and id rather it be replaced now as its also convenient (4hour job otherwise). Anyone got any suggestions for my predicament?
Thanks if you read all that, and any helpfull suggestions will be rewarded in beer possibly at the next cliosport gathering
