After some advice from knowledgable people - i think I've got an issue with the clutch 
Pedal has been biting lower and lower, and I've now got an ominous whining noise from the passenger footwell area. It's loudest around 2500-3000 rpm, can be heard in every gear, and disappears when I depress the clutch. Suspect release/thrust bearing on the way out, which means a new clutch. Anyone had the same dramas or could shed some light? Cheers!
