advice required on building trackday clio.

hi all new to this forum but here goes.
having prieviously built and run a mk1 golf g60 and a 205 mi16 i thought it was about time i got a clio.
what i want to no is are there any differences between a clio 1.816v and a williams apart from the obvious, engine interior etc.is the suspension track etc different, brakes and things like that.
if there is no difference i will be buying a 16v as it will be cheaper to purchase hence more money to spend on it.will a clio 172 engine fit and is it a bolt in conversion?if it wont fit then i will then buy a williams and tune that.

williams is the better option, has a wider front track than 16v,
as for engine conversions a 2.0 williams engine into a 16v rather than a 172, alot less hassle.

agreed - I would go for the Williams - saves you spending the money on the williams parts to make a 16v better in the future

no dont buy a williams buy a hybrid. there cheaper and usually have had a fair amount spent on them. also they usually have a better interior for a track day car. bucket seats etc

I'd buy on condition the Williams some are quite bad but ideal track cars the phase 1 172 can bepicked up cheap but I'd prefere a WIlliams personally.

172 engine will fit in a Mk1 shell but due to the intake manifold design you need to either have throttle bodies, a huge bonnet bulge or have the mounts made to hold the the engine lower down in the bay.

People often ask silly money for hybrids so often there not a good buy.

Brakes 1.8 and 2.0 are the same though.
