AF Triple + Black Hole. And What new Wax/Sealent?

  1.8 Civic EX
OK so the kind guys from AF sent me a Revive sample and chucked in some Triple too which was a nice little bonus.

The car only recently (a few weeks) had some Blackhole followed by nattys blue applied.

I've had the Nattys for years and I'm not convinced it's working so well anymore (Does it go off?!? potentially the most stupid question ever). Looks great just after application but now it just looks a bit shabby again.

Question is, now what? lol

Where does Triple fit into the process? Will it work under/over blackhole or is it instead of black hole?

I'm also looking to "upgrade" from the nattys blue. Looking for decent sheeting and longevity (I'll probbaly apply a few coats). For some reason I seem to be leaning towards either: Collinite 476s, Dodo Purple Haze (maybe the Pro?) or Zymol Carbon. Happy to take others into consideration. Budget is a max of £50.

Does it have to be a wax in a pot?

Z2 by Zaino and Tough coat by Auto Finesse are both amazing durable sealants.

Tripple would be used instead of BlackHole really. You could use Tripple then Blackhole but it's a bit of a mish mash mate.

Z2. Brilliant stuff.

I found it hard to remove though; that was the only downside for me.

How long do you leave it for? I'm guessing it was my fault.

tripple is an all in one so contains a very mild abrasive so that will do a good job at removing waxes and glazes such as your blackhole, so use tripple before blackhole.
It also contains its own fillers like a glaze such as blackhole so will go some way to filling minor swirls. I personally think it does a pretty good job of filling that I sold my glaze, although the more experienced glaze users will confirm is not truly the case.
It also contains a little bit of wax so will lay down it's own protection, but we're talking a month at best really, others have seen more but I'm a little sceptical.

Because of the wax content you need to be a little choosy over your protection layer as some sealants may be solvent based and start to react / remove / not bond quite so well. I would advise a wax over the top, or AF tough coat sealant as it has been designed to work with tripple also.

IMO tripple is a great product and doesn't really need the benefit of blackhole or other glazes over the top, it is so simple to use and leaves a stunning finish.

Finding a wax with upto £50 budget is difficult as there are so many good performers that it all comes down to what you want and expect of a wax.

When I sold my LY clio it was looking its best in a long time, and that was finished with AF tripple and passion wax

It's always user error.

Panel at a time is usually enough weather dependent.

Doesn't have to be in a pot no, just feels more like I'm putting something on the car rather than spray on job. Could Z2 or Tough Coat go on top of the Nattys or is that a bit over kill?

AF Tough coat is just stupidly easy to use, and Z2 will always look awesome though.

What colour?

Black

Will be a god few months with the odd trip to a jet wash to get the surface stuff off. And yes, you certainly contributed to me making a decision lol

Thanks for the info! Whats Passion, is that another AF product?

You could use Z2 as a base for Natty's. Gives some durability mate.

Z2 is applied similarly to a wax, tough coat is a spray sealant.

So whats the water behaviour for Z2 like?

Also bare in mind I don't have a machine polisher so everything is by hand, does the Tripple need to be worked quite hard to get the best results then left to haze before buffing off?

Same question for Z2 as well I guess...

Both fine by hand. Zaino beads fine but sheets more than wax, sheeting keeps your car cleaner for longer in principle mate.

Tripple is fine by hand, most products that fill come alive by machine but tripple is fine via hand. Just work it in. :)

Sounds good to me, as the op it's sheeting a durability I'm after so I think Z2 may be about to make it's way into my little collection. :)

Microfibre pad or Foam pad for application?

I currenlty use Microfibre for Black hole and Foam for Nattys.

I guess same principle here, mf for tripple and foam for Z2?
