Aftermarket alloys on insurance

  Mk4 .:R32
i have recently bought some new shoes for my car. on my insurance certificate it states 'alloy wheels' meaning the originals. so if i crash will my insurance company just replace my aftermarket alloys with the originals? or will they get anal and say i didnt declaire them!?

thanks

if you didnt declare them it'd void your insurance even if they had alloys as standard.

my insurance allows you to modify your car but will only replace with origional parts in the event of a crash but some insurers replace mods with mods.

Check with your insurance company about needing to declare them. Most mainstream insurers dont insure like for like with mods. If you do need to declare them and havent, they will void your insurance, so if you arent going to declare and need to, you might as well fit them and cancel your insurance policy as their is no point in paying for it
