OMEX600 mapper needed ASAP

Can anyone recommend a top engine mapper who can remap an Omex600 ideally as close to Manchester as possible? I have contacted one already, but if they are unable to do it this weekend then I need some options asap.

Will they both be able to map it on the decat so that when the cat goes back on it will pass an MOT??? I was told the current map would be fine, however the MOT tester informed me that it was over 6 times the limit... that WITH A CAT!

It's not right that's for damn sure lol. Cat is fine though, MOT tester said the map is the problem, his words "it's pretty much just throwing out neat fuel"

Aye, the charged shed... :(

sounds like it could be a good idea to sort it out anyway if you're wasting fuel like that?

it's wanted mapping properly since it was done tbh, but I was holding off after being 'told' it would pass an MOT with a cat on...

yeah if its mapped correctly it'll pass with a cat on (if mapped with a decat)

I was told it would, but have since realised the person telling me this could not be more full of sh!t... it's cost me an absolute fortune upto now, wish I had kept the ITB's tbh.

Are you sure its only the mapping thats the issue with the MOT?

Could it not be a dodgy lambda or some other sensor?

Andyman - yeah absolutely positive, it's down to the mapping and nothing else. The car has been off the road for over a month with various issues and problems, this is the only one remaining... well, that and the charger bracket which is being replaced when it's mapped.

Ben - might have been an off day, but it just cut out continuously...

Pauls map on mine (standard management) is second to none, runs fine at all times, no unexpected problems ever! I know he can do Omex too so have no doubt saying it would be spot on! He's not too far from you either! I'll be heading back soon to get mine finished (again ;))

as said paul at rs tuning is good at mapping. he done my mk1 recently and it drives perfect throughout the rev range (part throttle) as well as on full throttle. if i fit std alone in the future i will be going back to him:)

Keep this on topic. Or i'll get the CS hoover out and get rid of some old dust.

And i mean all of it.

This isn't the first time ive seen pointless opinion from some of the people in this thread.

Keep it relevant or use another forum.

Some good news for a change... MOT testers have extended the retest period by a week, so fingers crossed it can be mapped just down the road (as I dont really want to have to drive it too far without an MOT just in case and really dont want to pay to have it transported...). Just waiting on a reply to see if he can fit me in next week... fingers crossed.

IIRC you can drive a car without an MOT to a garage for repair work? Should be covered fella.

Not sure tbh Warren?

And Fred, it's a fine I dont need at the moment pal, my account has taken enough of a hit at the moment :( After the map I still need some other issues fixing :(

Some temp solutions have been put in place for the time being so it's okay to map. One being the fan not cutting in, but Jon's just wiring up a switch for the moment as I'd not sure what's causing the problem.

touch wood it should all be sorted very soon. its going for the bracket repairing after the mot. and the re-map next week. just a few more issues to sort after that. now the days seem to be getting a bit warmer/brighter/longer i can actually do stuff to it.

should be drivable by time its finished mate. ;)

Well, it's time... off to the RR now to have the ECU wiped and a decent map put on. Before and after graphs should be up over the weekend.

wayne at chip wizards is doing it mate. just left there now, its running around 250 at the mo but theres still a few little problems that need ironing out.

it idles fine now, which the last mapper couldnt get right in 3 weeks apparently...took wayne 5 mins. and it doesnt hesitate like fuk when the pedals planted anymore....and the revs die as soon as you take your foot off the pedal now too. which is a good start.

cant wait to see the finished result....IF he can iron out the vvt problem....well if he has time to take the loom apart to see which aux port is running it, as he cant find the vvt in there at all at mo.

the cars been left there for a bit, maybe pick it up tomorrow.

It's only one wire for VVT, not gonna be that hard to buzz it out and see what output channel it's on.

well he was running late, he was up til 5 this morning re-wiring an m3 thats converted from diesel to petrol in the britcar champ, it was at brands this afternoon, if the truck made it there lol....then he had to map it......sounded lovely....... so he was kinda knackered lol

it was getting nearly beer time so we left him to it ;)

no mate ....def wasnt a nail....very nice looking motor, weird exhaust set up and everything lol.

was a white 5 dr privately run i think between 2 drivers.

any news yet mate??

power output etc.

i know wayne was laughing his c**k off at the map that was on there.....just wondered if youd had any news of things getting somewhere near right....as it will be before it leaves waynes workshop.

shame more 'tuning' companies arent like him in the respect that if its not 'right' it doesnt leave the workshop.

Wayne is a very competient mapper, we used to have him do alot of our OEM management mapping a few years ago. deffinatly one of the best out there! look forward to seeing the results he gets!

Well some good news, Wayne has managed to sort it out but it wasn't cheap to get him to do it as it spent the whole weekend there as there were quite a few issues with it. The car wasn't mapped at lambda 1 as I was told, it wasn't even mapped properly at full throttle.

Another problem was that the idle was wildly erratic and would not hold constant revs when the throttle was held and would hunt up and down by anything upto 800rpm at certain loads! This is one of the main reasons why idle and fast idle tests caused it to fail on the MOT so badly.

The next issue was that after driving it would quite frequently return to idle at about 2000+ rpm, but on the road the effect of this would be that you take your foot off the accelerator and it was as if it was on cruise control as it would carry on driving by itself, which was just dangerous. This explains the kangarooing and hesitation when trying to drive at low rpm's and the backfires when coming back on throttle which it now doesn't do.

It made 240ish on the old map and 250+ after he was finished with it, but he said something about the VVT not being activated or something along those lines (didn't really understand!), but it's picked up a load of power and torque through the mid range. Should also now get about low 30's for MPG too, as before it was absolutely horrendous.
