Aftermarket Steering Wheel Controls???

  SchwepTek™
So i bought all of the correct Autoleads parts to make my new JVC headunit work and the first time I plugged them in, it all worked fine.

However, the headunit didn't hold its memory which means that the steering wheel control loom must have swapped over the ignition and permanent power leads?!?!?

I then switched the red and yellow wires of the main iso-jvc loom over and the unit held its memory but the steering wheel controls didnt work! So i guess the little conversion box wasnt getting power.

What do i need to do? Swap the power/ignition leads over on the autoleads loom?

Sorry for the essay!

shwep you should have compared it to the sony set up. it might be a case of two wires being swapped on the connection for the steering wheel controls..... get that camera out and take some piccys see if theres much difference

When you've swapped the red/yellow over you've probs disconnected the power on the box, iirc the control box needs a permanent live (usually red?) like JON13S said, whip the camera out n take sum piccies, post them on here too, i might be able to help :)

Thanks flick but after taking my dash off for a fourth time, they just seemed to start working! So maybe a trapped wire or something!?!?!? lol

I have the JVC AVX2.

I'm using Autoleads Renault Adaptor (PC99-X12) with JVC patch lead (PC99-JVC).

Nope nothing, but steering wheel controls all work now.

You using a sub with yours?

yeah, a pioneer tsw3001d4 (1000w rms 12") in the spare wheel well and a theloudestuk tl-1023 monoblock amp (500w rms 2 ohm) hidden.

amp is on minimum, and bass is awesome. sounds really good.

also running a rear view camera inked into the jvc and got the ipod connection kit too

How are you running the sub coz mine is plugged into the rear line out at the moment as the sub connection is only single channel?!?

Also whats the rear view camera like? Where have you put it and how did you wire it up?

Thanks dude! :)

If your amp is 2 channel as my old one was, use the sub out and use a Y splitter (halfrauds sell them) to make it 2 channel. my new amp is single channel so i don't need the Y anymore and then the sub is a dual voice 4 ohm so it's bridged to get 1 channel 2 ohms.
my camera is wired to a switch (can be reversing light) and into the jvc video in. its mounted in the black bit of the rear bumper, but i may be moving it to the rear wiper hole as ive just removed it. the picture is quite good if the lens is clean lol!
ive also got 2 7" widescreen displays mounted in the headrests.

cheers Daz
