Aftermarket Steering Wheel Que's...

  182, SRT8, RS4, GT-R
Hi All,
Thinking about getting this wheel:

Sorry if these seem daft questions: Does the horn still work? Looks like there is no space for it. Or is this a competition wheel?

Also, could I fit harnesses to standard seats or would I definitely need buckets?

  Weeman sucks ****
Yeah you normally get the horn push with the wheel. This wheel's very similar, same size etc but no thumb bulges. I got one with mine. Depending ont he boss kit you get, wiring it in is easy:

Ah thanks, just been doing a bit of searching and see quite a few come with horn buttons etc.
Would I be pretty dumb to get the wheel without getting harnesses too? lol.

Sometimes race wheels don't always come with a horn push, I had to request a horn push with my new wheel. Cost was about £7 inc wiring etc. As Chris says above not worth doing unless you plan to fit harnesses.

Depends whether your planning on having a big accident in your car or not?

Seriously though, I drove an 850cc mini when I passed my test for a few months then upgraded to a 1000cc mini ;) then a 205 gti. None of these had an air bag or any real safety features. I never felt dumb driving these cars.

I think at the end of the day you either decide to take the risk or not. Changing the steering wheel would make an amazing difference to how your 182 feels to drive but it would also be less safe in an accident.

You cant fit a harness to a standard seat.

You make a good point Mark. I think my parents wouldn't be too happy, although it's my car and all that malarky but can imagine my mum going 'no way are you driving without an airbag in Dubai! lol.

What's the best size? Seen quite a few tasty 300mm wheels. How big is the standard wheel?
