What age where you all when you got your 172, 182, Cup's??

Im 18 and tried a quote for one for next year and found out that it would be £5795

So should I stick with my 1.4 until what age??

i was 21 when i got mine. fully comp cost me £980 with elephant so quite happy with that. my first year in my 1.4 saxo was £1410 third party.

Well I live in Northern Ireland so that is the main reason its so high as one of the insurance companies explained though I got a quote for a starlett with turbo declared for £1600 which I thought was good, maybe that will be next car until im 20 or 21

dont let it burst your bubble... just keep saving... by the time you are 21 you might even be rolling in it and change your mind and pick up something else, 197 depending on preferance or even a meggy

reason why i said it was ridiculous is because you have to think about how its assessed, when your filling it out online theres alot of q's and its unlikely that alot of people will have the exact same answers as you which is why it sparsely varies.

I was 21 when i got my 182 and paid around 1200 with Admiral with Dad as a 'named driver on my policy'!!!

My first high powered car was a Clio 16v at 19 though and that didnt cost me much more again with Dad as a named driver.....Insurance musta rocketed like everything else since.

To the OP: Don't be so quick to jump into a quicker car, I don't care what exceptions there have been, you'll be less of a risk to yourself and others if you're driving a slower car.

It's about time they made it compulsory, just like with the bikes
