air con, rotten eggs?

My air con smells like rotten eggs when i turn it on, it goes away after a while. does anyone no what this is or what i can do? i think it may need cleaning.

If it does need cleaning are there an cheaper places than renault?

go to a motorist discount shop and buy an air bomb and pollen filter...also when did you last use your air con and when was it last gassed

hasnt been gassed since i bought it nearly a year ago, well i use it problyat least once a week. Also how do i change the pollen filter (where is it). also what is an air bomb?

Newbie.lol.

sure its not your catalyic converter lol

i changed my pollen filter when i got mine
it was the original one it came with an was an inch thick with crap

As above, under the plastic on drivers side, few clips and you will see a plastic box. then 2 screws iirc, make sure the plastics are on right after, job done :)

the smell is normally from your evaporator. when your aircon is on moisture collects on it, this in turn collects bacteria on which will give you the smell.

there is a drain hole and if this is blocked the water will stink too. best bet is an anti bacterial air con cleaner, sure u can get them from halfords etc

what this guy said^^. spray it directly onto the a/c evaporator, pretty sure its behind the pollen filter. the one i had was like a foam which breaks the bacteria down then turns to water which comes out of the drain hole. nice smell of apples after:D

I got a canister from halfords once where u put it in the car and it sprays out.. at the same time having all doors closed with Air Con on full blast.. it took my smell away :D

^^^ that's the cause, but i'd just leave the car running with the heaters on full blast with the windows open for a while and it will all evaporate off. Used to do it in my mk2 ph1 :)
