whats the best one to get for a clio 172 cup ? want the best performing one not arsed about the sound.

If you're not bothered about the sound stick with the original air box and stick an ITG panel filter in there.

why do they make them more responsive and better pick up ?

I couldn't honestly tell you mate but I'm getting one soon. Don't think you'll notice much difference to be honest.

I had a viper on mine a few weeks ago, it was only on for a week though, did the car no favours at all and from reading on here the only Induction kit worth fitting is the Maxogen but that's expensive.

Standard box, uprated panel filter and lose the accoustic valve and top CAF, speaking to the JMS boys the other day when I was down there and thats the best gain they have had over aftermarket IKs!!!

Another route to take is fitting a phase one air box. Again though I've had no experience of them just seen positive comments on here about them.

Quite difficult to fit though apparently because of the battery, you can just about sqeeze one in!!!

I mean the V6 air box that is!!!

Suppose the tighter the fit the better. That Viper I had on never seemed secure, could just imagine it bouncing off the battery every time I put my foot down.

True, mine def feels better the way the JMS boys suggested, you even get a little induction roar when you hit cam at 5k. Couple it with the Group N remap and matched inlets and it really goes.

The cold air feed that comes out of the side of the 172/182 airbox conects to the accoustic valve down in the wheel arch, take that all out and its much less restrictive!!

Na there is a giude on here to remove the accoustic valve takes 15mins then just pull the cold air feed out!!
