Air filters???

Hello,
Ive been looking into changing my air filter set up on my 2003 172 Cup. Ive got the oem setup and i have no idea really on what the best set up for my car would be. Im not very technical so looking for some advice really. Im not really looking for bhp increase which i doubt id get with anything anyway, i just want something thats gonna make the car sound a bit better. Do i go for a panel filter in the oem box, prob a stupid question but does my oem box have a cold feed?? Or go for a cone or go the whole hog and go for an induction kit.
Any thoughts??

Thanks :D

Definately a price dependant issue that one, all i can say is i have gone for a pipercross panel filter in the oem box and then i removed the cold air feed pipe with the acoustic valve on it, this will give more of a growl to the sound you hear when accelerating, no real increase in power though, even though it might sound like it :)

Hey,
The oem box does have a cold feed, and its a pretty good set up as standard! Induction kits will lose you power if you don't get the air feed right as they can draw in hot air from the engine bay, you can get enclosed induction kits but they ain't cheap. I've got the standard air box with a foam panel filter(pipercross) from Ktec in Dorset.

The Ktec panel filter is made by pipercross for Ktec, it is a different colour and has Ktec's logo on it. I asked the guys this question when i was down there last week having a few bits done!

A panel filter only gives a tiny bit of extra noise. I'd recommend the JMS induction kit as it sounds awesome and gives a bhp increase.

Wow, that was very quick lol. And two pipercross panel users as well, Just looked on K-tec and they have no pipercross panel filters on their website. Is this what you guys have? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RENAULT-CLIO-...38885801?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM

I got mine off the demon tweeks ebay shop, £35 posted, delivery was really quick too :)

this was mine, not sure if the 172 is the same or not?
