Air intake / induction help

  focus RS/Clio 172
I have a clio 172 that I use as track car, I have just removed what seems to be like an air regulator that sits below and behind the left head light just in front of the battery,

i am am wondering will it still run okay seen as this has been removed it currently doesn't do much as it doesn't have and pipes or anything going to it. The only thing it does have is like a little breather pipe that attaches onto a little metal nipple just behind the inlet, this seems to air in will I need to put like a breather filter on this or a cap to stop it sucking air in?

Thanks for any help.

Its the acoustic valve mate . Some people remove it . If you do a search you'll find it's been covered alot of times .
