Air Sound from steering wheel

Just thought id ask here to see whether anyone knows what this could be.

When I turn my steering wheel and the power steering kicks in it makes like an Air sound as if its coming from the steering wheel. It is worse when the car is stationary. Hope its not anything major cos cant afford anything else to be replaced.

Cheers everyone.

Its just the sound that the power steering pump makes. If you are stationary, then the pump has to work harder to turn the steering, thats why its louder.

Valvers are notorious for noisy ps pumps. Yes, you could say it sounds like air, but it is more of a shhhhhhhhhhhh noise, which is just the hydraulic fluid moving about.

To reduce the noise, the pump is self bleeding. Just park the car up of grass, or loose gravel, then go full lock to full lock about 10 times. This will bleed air from the system. You will notice it is much quieter after this. Enjoy.......
