Airbag Control Unit

  Clio 1.2 16v Extreme
Hi Guys,

Firstly I have very limited technically knowlegde so forgive me if this is not correctly written,

I had a small front impact a few weeks back and the 'serv' light 'airbag' light is on. There was no deployment at the time of impact, and now the MOT tester has ran diagnostics (Bosch system) and the code B107F is coming up,

Ive searched various threads on here but unsure of the best (or cheapest action)

- Have main dealer run diagnostics (£50)
- Remove the ECU myself and send it away to a company to reset? (£60-100?!)
- Get a replacement from a breakers yard and install it - is there potential problems here?

Any ideas and help appreciated !

Thanks Andy

should have said its a 2005 Clio

i had a airbag problem and i ended up changing the ECU got it off here for £30 and sorted my problem right away, Not hard to change 10 min job.... Renault can clear the code i believe if thats quicker and faster but will cost you

but you may need to change impact sensors, i'm not 100% sure how they work but they also are cheep and easy to fit

im sure one of the pros will be along soon to advise you better

Yeah I thought changing the ECU would be the best option - Impact sensors didnt give much thought too - Just trying to get thru the MOT at this stage

Someone with CLiP can reset the airbag for you - that's what the dealer will do. If there's one of the trader specialists near where you live - they'd be the people to get in touch with.

Bloody Bosch code is less than useless.

If you've had a prang, no matter the force yet tje SRS and SERV light is on then you habe most likely had a deployment I'm afraid (check your seat belt anchors are both the same length).

If these have gone then the computer is locked pending either full replacement or removal of the hex code... CLIP cannot do this.

First port of call though should be proper diagnostics on something that does French vehicles correctly (CLIP, SPX, AUTOLOGIC,SOLUS) amd go from there as understanding the problem is half the battle.

Thanks for this reply Mick,

I feared this may be the case - I will check the seat belt anchors tonight
Im taking this to a guy in Tunbrigde wells tomorrow who has a CLIP to get proper diagnostics and I will take it from there

You were correct - (on both counts)
The drivers seatbelt anchor was lower and the CLIP diagnositics ran showed that I will need a new airbag computer as the code could not be removed/reset by the CLIP

Does anyone know where I could get a new one if I have the part code (0 285 001 537) ?

Thanks again guys

They catch loads of people out mate as they don't go with a bang, more like a "pop".

There are people on eBay that can remove the crash data for you for around £25 or you can use a non-crashed computer from another RS which may need CLIP to setup if the configs are slightly different.

Yeah I hear that - Guess clipping a traffic island was much more costly than I realised!

Okay my plan was to source one on here and then take it back to the guy near me with the CLIP to make sure it all works and the lights all go out.

Thanks again Mick
