airbag light on after fitting standard wheel?

hello guys

i just removed my sabelt wheel and fitted standard wheel ready for MOT and now the airbag light has come on? wasnt on before with the sabelt because of the resistor.

i no its a common fault and covered loads of times but i cant find a definitive answer

Have you removed the resistor or is it still there? I don't know how the system works, but since the proper wheel is now back on the car that resistor (if still on the loom) may be causing the light to come on.

naaa i removed the resistor so that the airbag is plugged in, if i still cant sort it, ill put the resistor back in and put the airbag back, and they wont no any difference?

Try this? (link below) Otherwise I can't help as I never delved into the electrical system to sort mine out as this worked. It's worth a shot even if it does appear that the problem is with the wheel.

Better to try to fix the problem than with the resistor imo.

i no its better to fix it but soon as its passed mot the standard wheel will be whipped off again lol

I'd mot it with the sabelt wheel.

would it pass? see im a bit confused on how the mot would go with a wheel that has no airbag but the car has one as standard?

It should do. My understanding of the new rules is it will pass if you have replaced it all without the light coming on (like you had). What imo would fail is if you just took the airbag out but kept the standard wheel. Like the seat rule that they should adjust, if you have fixed seats it's a pass but a fail if the mechanism on the standard seats is broken.
