Airbag Light Question

Because I am a complete dumbass when it comes to all things technical, I need some advice. My car went in as the airbag light was on, and was apparently fixed - however, I just found loose cabling under the passenger seat that appears to be the seat belt tensioner - could this have been cut / disconnected to cure the airbag light problem? If so,is this a go beserk at dealer one?

how do you mean loose wiring ? wires that dont go anywhere or a loop of wire under the seat ? there should be a cable harness under the seat.. this is normal and allows for disconnecting the seat when your removing it.

It was a loop of wire with a plastic connector thing which was not connected to anything - it has been re-connected as part of the 24000 service, and the dealer said it was the seat belt tensioner - just wondered if it was sabotage by the previous repairer!

Loads of people are getting problems with the wiring of the seat belt tensioners, Iv had mine looked at because the air bag and service lights were coming on. Renault took out the connectors and soldered the wires together instead. So they probably had a big batch of really naff connectors, explaining why yours came apart.

yes mines going in for same prob tommorrow. full saga on earlier thread on about page 3 or 4 i would expect now!

If the car in question is a 3 door, because the seat is moved regulary then the wires come loose in the connectors.

To fix simply cut solder and use heat shrink to seal. fixed.

Renault now about the problem but wont admit its thier fault / bad design.

Renault know the prob and they have stated this to me! (Leics)

Mine just come back though typically they havnt fixed it because they didnt have time ( i took it in over lunch, they said thatd be enough!) Diagnostic said it was the driver side seat pretensioner circuit with the fault. guess thats what were all talking about here. theyve booked me in for early July! thats urgency for you..............

THEY HAVE HAD MINE IN NOW 6 TIMES FOR THE SAME FAULT,AND THEY WILL GET IT BACK EVERYTIME THE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN....PATIENCE IS A - SOMETHING OR OTHER....

not as good as mine it has been back in 4 times this week each time they tell me it is fixed and about an hour later guess what thats right the light comes on again. They now tell me it might be a computer fault and my car may be off the road for up to 3 weeks and they will only allow me to have a courtsy car for 3 days at a time.

Lightning16v why not keep the courtesy car until they fix it once and for all. Get a cover note for a week from your own icsurance company and when Renault say your cars fixed ask them to check and dont give the keys back until its fixed once and for all.
