Airbag Light

I hit a fairly big hole in the road yesterday and my airbag light came on. Switched the car off and on - everything fine - drive about 10 minutes, light comes on again.

Any ideas?

Take the bulb out!

Wires under the seat can come lose and that can cause the airbag light to come on.

Start the car up and have a play with the connectors and see if you can make it go out

You have hit a pothole which has caused your impact detector to detonate your seat belt pretensioner on your seat - check the height on your seat belt buckles - is one lower than the other ?? if so your pretensioner has fired off. You will also need to replace your airbag computer as these are not re-programmable. It may have caused other tensioners to have gone as well - the best way to diagnose this is attach the "clip" diagnostic computer to your diagnostic port and do a systems check. Your airbag light will not go off and the other airbags will not function at all till this has been done

Is it possible for any mechanic to do this?

Or will it be a Renault only job?

an expensive job, thats what it is. I think a reno one too. But j3ned surely if his pretensioners fired his serv light would be on permanently, infact I know it would be cause it does with the connectors too.

ive got the same problem mate. service light and airbag light permanently on. been to renault at least 5 times and each time its come back its been fine for about 3 days then comes on again

No serv light, just an airbag light.

Not on permanently either. I would've thought if the pretensioner had been fire that the light would be on constantly too tho.

I'll ask the mate from the RAC to take a look for me.
