Airbag removal

Im already stuck in my steering column removal attempt for my mk1 valver.

Im not sure how the airbag comes off.

Which bit is it i unclip - the black terminal with the wheel or the orange clip with the airbag?

I know its a simple thing but i thought id better ask rather than having an airbag go off in my face using too much brute force on the wrong clip!

To show you what i mean

Orange clip on the airbag, ideally you want to lock the airbag computer on a diagnostic machine but not many people do, even with access to a machine.

Have a good look at the orange plug, some have an outer part which you lift/slide then it should come out, a tiny screwdrivers your best bet.

Cheers for the advice but i cracked it earlier today. Was a pain in the arse getting the rest of the column out, but after many hours swearing and distinctly less skin on the back of my hands, the old is out and the new is in - massive improvement over the slack old one.

I think disconnecting the negative lead from the battery was a decent move to make with regards to the airbag, its best not to take chances.
