Airbag & Serv Lights - Where to start?!

  2005 RB 182
The car is a 2005 182.

I have searched and tried the following:

Connections under BOTH seats - All renewed
Turning the airbags off with the key on the passengers door switch
Disconnecting the battery overnight

It came on around twenty minutes after fitting a set of springs to the car but I don't know if this is related in anyway at all?

Would like to leave the Renault Dealer option till last if I can help it!

Thank you in advance ClioSport :p

Have already done this mate, but used decent connection blocks and ensured all were linked perfectly 3 times

If you get a diagnostic check it'll highlight where to look. I'm having trouble with mine just now stemming from the wiring at the steering wheel

I have this as well, i paid £1400 to get my car sorted and then got told its going to cost another £250 to get the airbag light on... Not havin that, what can it be?
Serv light on as well, garage says could be a number of things mainly relating to the engine...

I just had my rotary switch (a.k.a. Squib a.k.a slip ring) replaced at £230 supplied and fitted and faults cleared by main Renault dealer and now have no airbag light showing.

I today made a discovery!

The cruise control / speed limiter does not work on the steering wheel buttons when pushed. I can get the dash to come up with "SET ---" display as normal but the buttons do not activate. Maybe this is related to the airbag light as used to work perfectly.

As rory182 mentions, slip ring????

Thanks

Pull the cover off the steering column and check the cables are seated fully. It was the plug towards the dash on the left iirc that was causing my airbag/serv light to come on.

Okay, so you've checked the wiring under the seats and it didn't fix it. Stop faffing about with guesses and pulling at random wires... that's how accidental detonation can occur if you're not carefull! Just get it diagnosed properly as it can be done anywhere with decent kit for under £45 so not just Renault. This way you'll know exactly what is causing the fault and more importantly what is needed to fix it.

Chances are the cruise isn't working because the "SERV" light is on.
