Airbag/service warning lights

My 172 has the airbag and service warning lights on, i have been told it could just be a simple loose wire behind /under the seat. I have checked both seats and they seem to be fine, should I be looking for something more than just a loose connector (ie a a break in the wire thru wear) or is the fact that the connectors seem fine likely to mean its a problem elsewhere?
Thanks, Dave

got the same problem, they told me to solder the wire together because the connector isn't that good.

cut the entry en the output of one wire, then weld it ( soldering, i don't know the word because im dutch ;) ).
then the next wire, this should fix our problem !

goodluck, cheers

To save soldering the wires together just pull the plug out and replug back in and that should solve the problem I had the same problem a few weeks ago and on the Renault forum this was one of the topics on there hope this helps

it could also be something else to but by all means try this first... i've had two clio II SRS issues due to side crash sensors today alone.

I had the same lights come on after fitting a set of mats LOL apparently I must have knocked the under seat connector.............FFS these cars are f**kin mental PMSL

If the airbag system will go into safe mode just because a connector gets touched, or the seat gets moved, it doesn't inspire much confidence that it'll all work fine in a massive collision.
Should've been a recall really?

Oh i promise you they will still deploy! Everything bar the faulty component or trigger line.

The problem is the system isnt inspected or serviced... that will change now as from Jan '12 the SRS is now subject to MOT testing. Most people aren't aware that the SRS triggered components are supposed to be regularly serviced and in the case of the bags and pre-tensioners, physically changed every 10yrs but who does this and at what cost? The retail on these parts in some cases outweighs the value of the cars!
