Alarm on my uk spec 182....

Car  ST
Anyone know much about these, as in make, how realiable it is, can you add any extra's to it?

Cheers for any info, Alan.

All right mate

I had a few problems wi mine when I first got the car. The alarm went of at random times. took it back in and they changed they changed somit to do wi the ultra conic sensor on the interior.

Its been all good since then.

2 downsides thought......

1. don't get in the car to quick atfer unlocking it. ( sets the alrm off )

2. don't leave ur mobile in the car if its set to vibrate, thats sets the alarm off too.

hope of some use.

Aye i had a Toad AI606 full closure job on my dynamique.....done the mobile in the car one night, got a message around 3am-ish....dad wasn't amused lol

Not had any probs so far just want to know if it can be upgraded with any extra's anyways....

As far as I know the ones in a 172/182 are Cobra. I've got the certificate somewhere.

They are made by cobra, but branded Renault for the instructions, manual etc.

Renault Compact 7897

Should be in the with the alarm manual, its the proof of Thatham approval if you insurance company ask.

No extra can be added.
Do a search for a topic by my reciently I worter on all about the alrm stystem
yes its Cobra though.
its not bad there some obviousl problems but its cat 1 approved.

Here's what you need to look for.

I'm not sure I have the manual either, and I'm sure I didn't get the certificate with my previous 182.

I'll check for the manual tomorrow, it's too cold to go down into the garage and squeeze past a dirty car.

With your 182 you should definitely have an Alarm Manual for the Cobra (Renault-branded) alarm, and also a small certificate showing when the alarm was installed (and tested, in my case).

This should have come with the other paperwork in the grey pouch supplied with your car - if you don't have one, your dealer should be able to sort this for you; although the 'certificate' I have appears to be the "original" one, rather than a photocopy - so unless they keep a copy somewhere....

I had a tilt sensor fitted to the standard 182 alarm after getting the wheels pinched soon as you jack tha car up slightly the alarm goes off.

U should of got a certificate of fitting and testing etc. If you didn't mite be an idea to try get..

Cos sods law somint happens and the insurance will want proof of fitting etc. No harm in being prepared.
