Alarm problems

  Black/Gold 182
My alarm on my 182 keeps going off ( like 8 times in the last hour) how do I turn the sensitivity down?

  Ford Fiesta
mine has never had any problems since I got the car, unlike most 182 owners who have had the 3 beeps problems. MOst people I know with 182s have had the 3 beeps apart from me. Must be lucky.

However recently my alarm has been going off on its own, a full alert not just the 3 beeps. Sound slike the same as yours is doing, however 8 times in 1 hour is a lot more than mine has done. Mine is more like 1 or 2 times a week.

First thing you need to do it confirm it is the ultrasonics setting it off, wait til it goes off then count the number of LED flashes on the gearstick alarm LED.
If it is the ultrasonics a temp. measure to stop it is arm the alarm without interior ultrasonic protection, to do this- turn ignition on and off twice then arm the car you should get 4 beeps to confirm interior ultrasonics are off. (used for keeping dogs/kids in cars when you want to lock it)
However you would need to do this every time.
The only way to turn the ultrasonics sensitivity down without getting to the siren is to go under the centre console cup holders, switch the wires round, white to red and red to white. Instead of the standard red to red white to white.
I did this and I have not had a false alert since.

Still dont know why my alarm decided to start going off after 18 months of been fine though.
Hope this helps.

Well just tried the temp measure, hopefully that'll work, for some reason it's only starter happening after i drove it, it was fine sitting on the drive yesterday. Cheers for the advice, will try the wires thing

make sure it is the ultrasonics setting it off and not a faulty boot/bonnet switch, look at the led to find out.
